Should I bring anything?

We do recommend bringing sunglasses or a hat and some extra water because it can get very hot in the summers! We also recommend putting sunscreen on. But everything else will be provided for you on the tour!

Can locals take the tour or is it only for tourists?

Of course they can! The tour is made for both locals and tourists. If you are a local in São Paulo you may be surprised by some of the places you don't already know about!

Is it wheelchair or stroller accessible?

In the tour Taste of Mercadão wheelchairs and strollers are welcome! Unfortunately we do not permit strollers in our tours Taste of Centro, and wheelchairs are not recommended. The tour passes through narrow and uneven sidewalks, some of the places are very small, have stairs and are not accessible for wheelchairs or strollers.

Can I shop during the tour?

Unfortunately, due to time constraints there will be no shopping allowed on the tour. In order to keep your tastings fresh and the tour 3 hours long we ask you to wait to shop until after the tour is over. We will provide you with a map of our route along with all the tasting locations and addresses for you to return to any location.

Does the tour guide accept gratuities?

Gratuities are greatly appreciated but not necessary. The standard is about 15 to 20% depending on your experience.

Does the tour start and end in the same place?

No. The tour starts at one tasting location and ends at another. The tour "Taste of Mercadão" starts and ends inside the Municipal Market, The tour "Taste of Centro" starts in the corner of Av. Ipiranga and Av. São João and ends in front of the subway station "São Bento" and the tour "Taste of Jardins" starts at Rua Haddock Lobo and ends at Alameda Lorena. We will be able to provide instructions if you would like to return to the starting point or any where else!

What is the best way to get to the meeting location?

We recommend using public transportation. The meeting point of the tour 'Taste of Mercadão" is 5 minutes from the "São Bento" Subway Station. If you take the subway be aware that you will have to cross Rua 25 de Março, which is the biggest comercial center in SP and very chaotic. If you don't like crowds, take a taxi and ask him to drop you off at Gate 11. The meeting point of the tour 'Taste of Centro" is 5 minutes from the "República" Subway Station and you can also take a cab. The tour "Taste of Jardins" we recommend taking a cab. We do not recommend driving to the tour because is very hard to find a parking space in SP.

Will the tour be rescheduled if it's raining?

The tour takes place rain or shine. If the weather forecast shows a chance of rain, bring an umbrella, the food will still taste the same, we promise! The tour "Taste of Mercadao" takes places inside the market so there is no problem if it rains!

What if I am a vegetarian or if I have dietary riestrictions?

All you need to do is specify if you are a vegetarian or have any dietary restrictions when you book your tour and accommodations will be made.

Can we take pictures?

Of course! We encourage pictures so that you can keep your experience with you forever! Post our pictures with #tasteofsaopaulo
